7 Times Table
Tricks for the 7 times table
Split it into 5s and 2s: 7 × 8 = 5 × 8 + 2 × 8 = 40 + 16 = 56.
- Turn it around: by the time children reach the 7s, they already know 7 × 2 through 7 × 6 from the other tables. Only 7 × 7, 7 × 8 and 7 × 9 are new.
- “5, 6, 7, 8”: 56 = 7 × 8.
- 7 × 7 = 49 is the square kids most often answer as 42 or 48.
