Tricks for the 10 times table
Write a zero on the end: 10 × 7 = 70. Each digit moves one place to the left.
- It’s place value, not a trick: 7 tens is 70. See the place value chart.
- The 10s are the anchor for the 9s (one less group) and the 11s and 12s (one or two more).
- Once the 10s are solid, 5 × n is just half of 10 × n.
