5 Times Table
Tricks for the 5 times table
Every answer ends in 5 or 0, and 5 × n is half of 10 × n. 5 × 8 = 80 ÷ 2 = 40.
- Odd numbers times 5 end in 5; even numbers end in 0.
- A clock face helps: the minute hand on 7 means 35 minutes, because 5 × 7 = 35.
- 5 × 7, 5 × 9 and 5 × 12 are the ones that slow children down.
