Where children slip
In Num Drill’s own answer data, two-digit by one-digit division is missed 21% of the time, against about 10% for the division facts. The facts are the foundation: long division is a string of facts (how many 6s in 38?), so a child who has to work out each one loses the thread. Get the mixed division facts sheet quick before starting long division.
How to use these worksheets
Learn each division fact alongside its times table: if 6 × 7 = 42, then 42 ÷ 6 = 7. A multiplication chart works as a division chart too: find the answer in the row, read the column. For long division, teach the four steps as a loop: divide, multiply, subtract, bring down.

Are these division worksheets free?
Yes. All 10 are free PDFs to download, print, copy and share for home or classroom use, with no login, sign-up or email.
What grade learns division?
Division facts start in 3rd grade alongside the times tables. Long division by a one-digit divisor comes in 4th grade, and 5th grade moves to two-digit divisors.
What are the steps of long division?
Divide, multiply, subtract, bring down, and repeat. For 84 ÷ 6: 6 goes into 8 once (1), 1 × 6 = 6, 8 − 6 = 2, bring down the 4 to make 24, 6 goes into 24 four times. The answer is 14.
How do you write a remainder?
Write it after an R: 59 ÷ 4 = 14 R3, because 4 × 14 = 56 and 3 is left over. Later, remainders become fractions (14 3/4) or decimals.
Do the worksheets have answer keys?
Yes. Every worksheet has its answer key on page 2 of the same PDF.
Will the worksheets print on A4 paper?
The PDFs are US Letter. Choose “Fit to page” in the print dialog and they print correctly on A4.
