Where children slip
In Num Drill’s own answer data, two-digit plus two-digit problems are missed 17% of the time, about twice as often as two-digit plus one-digit (8%), and three-digit sums are missed more than a quarter of the time. Nearly all of those misses are a forgotten carry. Practise the two-digit regrouping sheet until the carry is automatic before moving to three digits.
How to use these worksheets
Short and often beats long and rare. One sheet a day, or one side of a page, is plenty. For the facts, aim for speed as well as accuracy: when a child can finish the within-20 sheet in about two minutes with no mistakes, move to two-digit work. Keep the counting strategies (making 10, doubles) visible at first, then expect the answers from memory.
Addition facts, online and free
A 10-question quiz takes about a minute, marks every answer instantly and brings back the facts your child misses. No login.

Are these addition worksheets free?
Yes. All 14 are free PDFs to download, print, copy and share for home or classroom use, with no login, sign-up or email.
What grade learns addition?
Kindergarten adds within 10, 1st grade adds within 20, 2nd grade is expected to know the facts to 20 from memory and adds within 100, and 3rd grade adds within 1,000 using the standard algorithm.
What is regrouping in addition?
Regrouping, or carrying, happens when a column adds up to 10 or more. In 38 + 47, the ones make 15, so you write 5 and carry 1 ten to the tens column: 3 + 4 + 1 = 8 tens, giving 85.
How can my child learn addition facts faster?
Teach the strategies first (making 10, doubles, near doubles), then practise recall a few minutes a day with a timed quiz. Short daily practice beats a long weekly session.
Do the worksheets have answer keys?
Yes. Every worksheet has its answer key on page 2 of the same PDF.
Will the worksheets print on A4 paper?
The PDFs are US Letter. Choose “Fit to page” in the print dialog and they print correctly on A4.
